Patriots on Watch was launched during the "TEA Party" movement and is organised in the state of Arkansas as an unincorporated nonprofit association of individuals. We are a group of like-minded people who seek to turn the frustration and outrage expressed during the various TEA parties and town hall meetings into substantive governmental reform.
Like the founding fathers, we believe in the virtue of limited government and in the concept of God-given unalienable rights which lie beyond the scope of governmental jurisdiction.
Many patriotic people attended the tea parties and town hall meetings during the past year out of frustration with a government that is nonresponsive to its constituents, we the people. This arrogant nonresponsive attitude which pervades government at all levels will continue, unless we bring forth an organised united front and demand change. In order to unite we must realise that the establishment of the Democratic and Republican parties are responsible for the current state of affairs. Therefore, we must not be loyal to party; we must instead be loyal to principle. Let us learn from George Washington who stated in his farewell address:
“Let me now take a more comprehensive view, and warn you in the most solemn manner against the baneful effects of the spirit of party…The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism.”
The Democratic and Republican party “spats” are akin to professional wrestling “bouts.” After the cameras are turned off and the lights go down they work arm in arm in saddling our children with debt they will never be able to repay, among other evils.
Our first billboard honors George Washington and states the obvious: “You deserve better government – Boot out the incumbents.” We hope this will be only the beginning of many successful messages displayed on numerous billboards. In order to be successful, however, we need your help. We understand that times are tough, so we are asking for small donations of as little as $1, $5, or $10 (or more!) to keep this billboard campaign going. All donations will go directly to operating expenses, and since there is no paid staff, there will be no one who personally benefits from any donation. Keep in mind that if you should choose to donate, your contributions are not tax deductible.
The following list is provided as examples of the type of activism that Patriots on Watch hopes to facilitate:
1. An expanded billboard campaign.
2. Grass roots dissemination of informational flyers and writing letters to the editor.
3. Attending local events where elected officials can be monitored and confronted with hard questions that the mainstream media refuse to ask.
4. Enlist local journalists to write reports on issues which are being ignored by the mainstream media which affect citizens of our state with regards to their liberties, personal property rights, etc.
5. Support local businesses and farmers. 6. Promote candidates who will directly confront and take on the political establishment.
Over the coming weeks our website will be updated with new features. Please check back often, and get involved.
